Welcome to Mazonia Hunt Club!Duck and Goose Hunting Capital of Illinois
Important Update For All Hunters!
JANUARY 17TH, 2OI2
Just a short week ago I was about to write the season off. Last Friday we began to see thousands of geese migrating into the lake and took several limits of geese from four different locations. Saturday was a bust as the geese simply did not move off the lake. We again shot geese on Sunday, took a rest on Monday and then went out today and took more limits of geese today!
That
being said, it is time for all of you that struggled with duck season this year to seek your revenge on the grey and white monsters of the Mississipi Valley Flyway. I am estimating, based upon what I have seen the past three days that we are holding upwards of 50,000 geese on the lake and local waters that remain open.
I
have been fortunate to have openings left for the remainder of the season on weekends as well as weekdays. Some days are near capacity so call or email and we will do our best to put you on birds. Again, I
was able to negotiate a special room rate with Super 8 Hotels in Dwight IL for any Mazonia Hunt Club hunter. A King room will cost $55 per night and a Double Queen room is $60 per night (taxes not included). When booking let them know you are hunting with Mazonia Hunt Club to get the discount. They are "pet friendly" as well for those that will have their canine companion along for the hunt.
Click Here To Make a Reservation at Super 8 I
urge you not to wait until the last minute to book your hunts as we have two weeks of season left and I know a lot of you may only have one or two opportunities to join us. Click Here To Book Your Hunt Now I would suggest if you have some tentative dates that you call or email (best) me and give me the dates. I am
blessed to have fields that are close to the lake where the birds are and my goal is to make it enjoyable for you and to
introduce the sport to new hunters. Having
said that I want everyone out there to do their level best to introduce someone
to the sport. Perhaps someone that hunted years ago and just lost interest or a
place to hunt. You all know I encourage youth hunting for a number of reasons,
but none more important than a great life lesson in responsibility and respect.
In that vain since I went in business I have always offered to give any youth
hunter under age 16 a FREE HUNT on his or her first visit. The only two things I require is the guide fee be paid and they are accompanied by a parent or
guardian that will be positive and encouraging. Now,
since going on my own I have much more say over what goes on when it comes to
discounts and special considerations. Any firefighter, police officer or active
military member receives a 20% discount. Another thing I offer and feel strongly about
is this; if you know of a fellow hunter that has fallen on hard times and simply
is not participating due to the cost of a hunt, call me. I will never deny
anyone the privilege of hunting due to cost. I will gift a free hunt to a paying
hunter and they can extend the free gift to their friend. Take advantage of the
opportunity but PLEASE do not take advantage of me. I want this to be in those
cases where there is a need and yet do not want to forget that everyone has
their own pride. That is why the "free hunt" goes to you and you are the
"winner" that can be the hero in the eyes of someone that may need uplifting. Many
of you know from previous emails I was involved in a rather serious car
accident. I am blessed to have been saved by the Grace of God from what should
have been a fatal event. I was a paramedic for 22 years and went to fatalities
with far less damage then what my favorite little red Corvette absorbed. I never
lose sight of the fact that all things happen for a reason. My bumps, bruises,
aches, and pains will go away. My friendships I have made while owner of MHC
will last forever and forever have meaning to me. I thank all those that have
sent me personal messages and words of encouragement. I hope we can all gather
around the bounty of the harvest we anticipate this waterfowl season. I thank
each and everyone of you, sincerely from the bottom of my heart.
The best
to all.......................
